For some, perhaps just a scribble on overpriced clothing...
For me, it has been a stylish companion since around 1991 and it's not just the lettering and sexy designs that blow me away and continue to do something to me...
The stickers still make my synapses dance to this day !
Mucho Jabba to Stüssy !!!

Shawn Stüssy was born in 1954 in Laguna Beach, Southern California.
By the end of the 70s, he was already putting all his passion for surfing into building and selling surfboards, which he branded with his now legendary lettering for recognition.
Driven by success, he fortunately quickly extended his range to include T-shirts, which laid the foundation for the brand that is still so great today.

In fact, Frank Sinatra (one of his best friends, not the singer or related to the singer) was the perfect piece of the puzzle in the mid-80s to officially launch the Stüssy brand !
Stüssy's growth was rapid and it made the leap to Europe in the 90s.
Since then, Stüssy has definitely been one of the top players when it comes to high-level, quality streetwear and is still celebrated by every generation to this day.

One of the things that needs to be highlighted, besides the brilliant clothing, is the deep influence Shawn Stüssy had very early on in the streetwear, skateboarding, surfing and music scenes plus the enthusiasm with which he supported all of these scenes...

So he founded the “Stüssy Tribe” which included numerous creative minds from the above mentioned scenes.
According to research, the whole thing started in London and spread to several other cities such as New York, Tokyo and Paris.
The absolute highlight for the Tribe members was receiving a jacket embroidered with their respective names !

Shawn also had a great influence on Supreme founder James Jebbia...
He was manager of the Stüssy store in New York before starting his own incomparable career !
In 1996 Shawn Stüssy left the brand to spend more time with his family.
